I do not typically take time to write reviews on here but felt I would be doing a serious disservice to all those potential would be pasta chefs out there if I did not enter one this time. This book is a must have for anyone wanting to throw down on some great pasta dishes!!! Most of the recipes use really basic flavors and ingredients that are easy to find in most grocery stores. The recipes are very well written and easy to follow, and most have beautiful pictures to boot. I had never made homemade pasta in my life before buying this book and over the weekend I made 2 of the dishes and was blown away by the results. My wife and I are very excited and determined to prepare each and every dish in this book before it is said and done!!!!! Just AWESOME!!!!!!!
I keep giving this to people and now it's out of print. The ones you get used look really good and unused because few real cooks will give theirs up!It's a DK book. I have many of theirs and only met one I didn't like. Well and clearly written. Good editing. Excellent and very useable. As other reviewers have mentioned, what you cook is what the pictures will look like. Not a book with "styled" food. But very tasty food, suitable for all styles of dining unless one is wearing white...
This is one of my favorite Italian cook books. There are a lot of very good recipes in here. I have never used his recipe for making fresh pasta, but all the other recipes are excellent and usually pretty quick.
Bought this book because of the reviews. In my opinion I like the book "Making Artisan Pasta" better because it has quality instructions/pictures and includes recipes for Chinese Pot Stickers, Pierogi's, and other pastas. In my opinion I would get the "Making Artisan Pasta" book first and see if you need any other pasta books from there.
Excellent cookbook. I've seen some that were more complex, but pasta is simple. Hazan presents recipes you'll actually make. Everything is laid out in an organized and sensible fashion. Topics covered include dough, descriptions of various pastas, sauce, and even technique. The book is endlessly informative.
There is this phenomenal recipe that is now my go to recipe when I want to impress others and it is quick simple and delicious. Sorry not revealing my favorite recipe or everyone will start to make it.
This is a wonderful pasta cookbook. The recipes are clear and easy to follow and are generally tasty. Cooking from this collection of recipes gives a whole new appreciation for pasta. We purchased this as a gift and are now getting one for our selves. If you like pasta and are looking to be a bit more adventuresome this is a cookbook for you.
I am thrilled finally to have found a copy of The Classic Pasta Cookbook by Giuliano Hazan! I had one for years when I lived overseas but it got lost in the move back in 2004. This version is in PERFECT condition - like new, really - except for the faded overleaf cover. In fact, I just ordered a second one from jenson_online_inc for a friend who has been copying recipes from a library copy. Such a bargain ... and it was delivered in two days via Amazon Prime!
