I bought this book for a class. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Not too hard to read the author made some interesting arguments, but I would not have bought this book for thrills.

Tamar Jeffers McDonald gives an interesting analysis of the genre on the whole, as well as devoting sections to subcategories of sex comedies, screwball comedies, and others within the original genre.I read this during my time as a film student, but it wasn’t required reading. It’s rather short—the meat of the book is around 100 pages—and is more of an introduction to this type of analysis and deconstruction of the romantic comedy genre, rather than the book of authority. If you’re thinking of dabbling in the world of film studies, this is a good book to start out with and see if you like that type of analysis.
Several pages of credits at the end, crediting the original authors that the bulk of this book was stolen from, earn it the 1 star ranking.I give any work that is little more than a cut and paste job with possible rearrangement of what you will find if you look up romantic comedy on Wikipedia a zero. Add in the insulting price and this cut and paste unoriginal essay is worthy of minus one.Web search "Romantic Comedy" and you will get more information from better sources and for free.
