Kristin Cavallari is a television host, designer, entrepreneur, and author of the New York Times bestseller True Roots. She stars in the E! show, Very Cavallari, based on the running of her lifestyle goods store in Nashville. I've been a fan of Kristin Cavallari since Laguna Beach and later on, The Hills. Of course, Hollywood portrayed her as, well...not a nice person but I never truly believed that she was like that in real life. Over the last few years, I've become an even bigger fan of her since she became a mom and have the utmost respect for everything I've read about her (I have seen some of her status updates on social media sites). Last night, I saw that she released a book and I immediately purchased it. Since I am a mom as well and am also looking for ways to create a healthier lifestyle, I had no problem splurging on this book.As soon as I started this book, I was hooked! I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning reading it because I love the topics covered in this book and the style in which it is written. I would describe this book as mostly a self-help guide with elements of an autobiography since she writes about herself, a bit of how she grew up and how she came to be the person she is now. For anyone looking for lots of gossip on reality TV and what really happened on Laguna Beach and The Hills, this isn't that kind of book. Yes, there are some parts where Kristin Cavallari gives readers information on what actually happened but it's mostly used to show how she decided to change herself to become who she was meant to be. In this book, she often reflects on who she used to be and looks at how far she has come. All in all, she is shown to be a very real person.Balancing in Heels is written in a very positive, encouraging way and I couldn't stop from smiling because I just felt so happy reading this book! The book is divided into chapters on topics such as becoming a mother and wife, eating healthy, working out, and fashion. Kristin Cavallari writes about what works well for her and even provides examples on what she does to make sure her family eats healthy, "real" food and exercises. I learned quite a bit from this book and already this morning, I've been checking nutrition labels to happily discover some of the foods she says are very clean are already ones that I regularly keep in the house! She ends each chapter with a summary called "Balancing it All" to reinforce her main points. She even includes several recipes at the end of the book in case you want to try some of her favorites and I'll admit, most of them sound pretty tasty.I loved this book, which probably had something to do with the fact that I already knew who Kristin Cavallari was, but this book would appeal to anyone, regardless of if you know who she is or not. Balancing in Heels talks about how she is happy with who she is and breaks down what she does to stay happy and healthy. I already plan on incorporating some of her tips into my lifestyle. The only thing I regret is purchasing this book on my Kindle Paperwhite because the screen is smaller than some of the other Kindles and some of the pictures and charts on the screen of the Paperwhite aren't as easy to see. Since I plan to use this as a reference, I am going to bite the bullet and purchase a paperback copy as well. If you are either a fan of Kristin Cavallari or are looking for a good, positive book to help encourage a healthier lifestyle, I highly recommend this one and hope she writes more books in the future!

Pretty disappointing. Seemed random jumping from high school and advice and then random recipes. Not what I had hoped for.

I’m sorry... I was hoping for more like Tori Spellings writing... this is awful... and I really like Kristen... but it’s just a no for me... probley won’t read anything else by her

A quick read, but I love it. I appreciate how honest Kristin Cavallari is and she emphasizes that situations are different for everyone, but explains where she's coming from with her decisions and how they've helped her in her life. I also appreciate the start of her book, which talks about her life on Laguna Beach & The Hills. She doesn't make excuses for her life, but explains how things were easily skewed to the public for the sake of show ratings. I appreciate Cavallari's honest approach to growing up and found it inspirational in the sense that it's okay to grow up at your own rate and that everyone eventually gets there.

I REALLY REALLY wanted to love this book but I just can't. While it is no doubt written by Kristen, she isn't really telling her story - she is kind of just giving a rough outline of her day to days, her marriage, her kids and how she is balancing it. There isn't a lot of meat to the book but there are a lot of pictures. I love her dearly and loved her on Laguna (real or not) but this book was disappointing. Its just meh and really didn't give me any information that I didn't already know or wouldn't have already assumed from a wife / mother. I finished the book (in 1 day) saying "no duh" to myself.

I really enjoyed the first couple chapters. They gave great advice on how to balance life and love and helped you understand how to keep a relationship healthy. However, by chapter 3 the book was more about how perfect Kristin is. She often contradicts herself saying she was unhealthy as a teenager but that she’d do something now if it wasn’t for the fact that she will “loose too much weight” or “because of her diary intolerance”. Her book makes you feel like she’s just trying to tell you in every way she can that she is beautiful successful and fit. All things we already know by looking at her. Maybe a little more advise and a little less about herself in the next book.

So good! Particularly, I found learning about food and how hidden ingredients effect your body / skin / hair really interesting. Great beauty tips that are realistic and recipes I can't wait to try. Overall, a nice variety of content. Well written. An educational yet easy, entertaining read. Highly recommended!!

Great read! Kristin’s personality shines through this book of her tips and journey to where she is today. Any KC fan needs this!
